I want
to welcome you to Acuity Eye Care. I am Richard S. Casden, M.D.
the founder and senior surgeon of Acuity Eye Care. Since 1979
when I opened this practice, I have dedicated our practice to
helping our patients by providing the very best eye care available.
I have specialized my personal practice in microsurgery and laser
for cataracts and intraocular lens implantation.
I received my B.A.
degree from Williams College and earned my M.D. from Columbia
University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Following an internship
at the University of Virginia Hospital, I began a three-year residency
in ophthalmology at Yale University School of Medicine.
Early in my residency,
I was fortunate to be involved with the first intraocular lens
implant performed at Yale New Haven Hospital. I was among the
first surgeons at Yale to successfully implant artificial lenses
as replacements for cataracts. In addition, I developed expertise
in corneal transplantation and the argon laser.
When I began this ophthalmology
practice in Danbury in 1979, I introduced these microsurgical
and laser techniques to the medical community. I performed the
first YAG laser for post-cataract surgery at Danbury Hospital
and was also instrumental in offering the first foldable intraocular
lenses. Most recently, I became one of only seven ophthalmologists
in Connecticut to implant the ARRAY multifocal intraocular lenses.
Everyone here at Acuity
Eye Care is dedicated to providing you the very best care possible
in a professional manner. I want to personally assure you that
your health and comfort are our primary concern.
We realize that you
have choices in eye care providers. We hope to reward your faith
in us with the kind of care that will not just improve your vision,
but preserve it for years to come.
